What We Do

Connecting Ugandans in Colorado through culture, support, and growth, UUACO creates spaces where community members belong, learn, and thrive. Through cultural events, social support, and educational programs, Ugandans and friends of Uganda build lasting relationships, share opportunities, and strengthen their heritage while navigating life in Colorado with confidence and collective pride.

Celebrating Ugandan Culture in Colorado
UUACO organizes cultural gatherings that showcase Ugandan music, food, dance, and traditions. These events create spaces where members reconnect with their roots, introduce children to their heritage, and share culture with friends and neighbors. They strengthen community pride and visibility in Colorado, keeping Uganda’s story present, vibrant, and alive in everyday community life.

A Welcoming Support Network for Newcomers
UUACO provides a welcoming support network for newcomers and families settling in Colorado. Members share practical information, offer guidance, and help people navigate housing, work, school, and cultural adjustment. This everyday support eases isolation, speeds up integration, and ensures no Ugandan has to face the challenges of a new place alone.

Preserving Culture for the Next Generation
UUACO preserves and promotes Ugandan culture and traditions for younger generations born or raised in Colorado. Through language, storytelling, dress, music, and celebrations, children and youth experience an authentic connection to Uganda. This helps them build a confident sense of identity, honor their roots, and understand the values and history that shaped their parents and grandparents.

By circulating timely and relevant information, the association helps members access support, respond to urgent needs, and fully participate in community life.

Inspiring Youth Leadership and Mentorship
UUACO encourages youth leadership, mentorship, and participation in all aspects of community life. Young people are invited to volunteer, help plan events, share their ideas, and learn from elders. This investment builds confidence and skills, keeps the community vibrant and relevant, and prepares the next generation to carry forward the association’s mission.
